THE HISTORY OF COMPUTERS TIMELINE

Hello Guys,This is Adityarup Datta. Welcome to my blogging website.Today I am gonna talking about the history of computers As you can see in the tittle. So without wasting any time lets get started.

Before we know the history of computer we need to know that What is a Computer?

=>So Basically Computer is a machine that helps us to solve any calculation problems. The full form of COMPUTER is Common Operating Machine Purposely Used for Technological and Educational Research. Now I am going to discuss about the generations of compouter revolution.

First Generation Computers (1940s – 1950s)

First electronic computers used vacuum tubes, and that they were large and sophisticated.

the primary general purpose information processing system was the ENIAC (Electronic Numerical measuring instrument And Computer).

it had been digital, though it didn’t operate with code, and was reprogrammable to unravel a whole vary of computing issues.

it had been programmed victimization plugboards and switches, supporting input from AN IBM card reader, and output to an IBM card punch.

meters, weighed twenty seven tons, and intense a hundred and fifty kilowatts of power.

Its made of  a large number scale of vacuum tubes, crystal diodes, relays, resistors, and capacitors.

The first non-general purpose pc was fundamental principle (Atanasoff–Berry Computer), and alternative similar computers of this era enclosed german Z3, 10 British Colossus computers, LEO, Harvard Mark I, and UNIVAC.

ENIAC

Second Generation Computers (1955 – 1960)

The second generation of computers passed off because of the invention of the semiconductor device, that then started commutation vacuum tubes

semiconductor device computers consumed so much less power, created so much less heat, and were abundant smaller compared to the primary generation, albeit still huge by today’s standards.

The first semiconductor device pc was created at the University of Manchester in 1953.

the foremost fashionable of semiconductor device computers was IBM 1401.

IBM additionally created the primary hard drive in 1956, the IBM 350 RAMAC.

Third Generation Computers (1960s)
IBM System/360 IBM System/360 The invention of the integrated circuits (ICs), additionally referred to as microchips, made-up the manner for computers as we all know them nowadays.

creating circuits out of single items of element, that may be a semiconductor, allowed them to be abundant smaller and a lot of sensible to provide.

This additionally started the continuing method of desegregation AN ever larger variety of transistors onto one semiconductor.

throughout the sixties microchips started creating their manner into computers, however the method was gradual, and second generation of computers still continued.

First appeared minicomputers, 1st of that were still supported non-microchip transistors, and later versions of that were hybrids, being supported each transistors and microchips, like IBM’s System/360.

They were abundant smaller, and cheaper than 1st and second generation of computers, additionally referred to as mainframes.

Minicomputers may be seen as a bridge between mainframes and microcomputers, that came later because the proliferation of microchips in computers grew.

Fourth Generation Computers (1971 – present)

First microchips-based central process units consisted of multiple microchips for various C.P.U. parts.

The drive for ever bigger integration and miniaturisation diode towards single-chip CPUs, wherever all of the mandatory C.P.U.

parts were place onto one semiconductor, known as a micro chip.

the primary single-chip C.P.U., or a micro chip, was Intel 4004.

The advent of the micro chip spawned the evolution of the microcomputers, the type that might eventually become personal computers that we tend to square measure aware of nowadays.

So this is the generations of computer. Now talking about the revolution of computer. Here I prepared a list for you guys can understand better.

Portable Computers

The first laptop computer that was commercial was John Osborne one in 1981, with alittle alittle monitor and a keyboard that sits within the lid once closed.

It ran CP/M (the OS that Microsoft bought and based mostly DOS on).

Later moveable computers enclosed Bondwell a pair of free in 1985, additionally running CP/M, that was among the primary with a hinge-mounted show LCD digital display alphanumeric display.

Compaq moveable was the primary IBM laptop compatible laptop, and it ran DOS, however was less moveable than Bondwell a pair of.

different samples of early moveable computers enclosed Epson HX-20, GRiD compass, Dulmont wine bottle, Kyotronic eighty five, commissioned naval officer SX-64, IBM laptop Convertible, Toshiba T1100, T1000, and T1200 etc.

The first moveable computers that correspond trendy laptops in options were Apple’s Powerbooks, that 1st introduced a inbuilt electronic device, and later a trackpad and facultative color digital display screens.

IBM’s ThinkPad was for the most part impressed by Powerbook’s style, and also the evolution of the 2 junction rectifier to laptops and notebook computers as we all know them.

Powerbooks were eventually replaced by trendy MacBook Pro’s.

Of course, abundant of the evolution of moveable computers was enabled by the evolution of microprocessors, digital display displays, battery technology and then on.
